FINCH is offering a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the film and advertising industry working with the region’s leading Directors and Producers.

They are looking for a highly skilled and highly driven film buff for a Director’s Assistant Internship at FINCH; someone who is passionate about working in the Film, TV or Advertising industry.

As a Director’s Assistant you will work with their Creative Team and Directors to pitch for new work as well as assisting Directors during the development and pre-production process. They’re wanting a unique combo; a graphic designer and/or budding writer who is excited to become a master of both.

Your role will be to creatively translate their approach to a script into a written and visual format by researching, referencing and curating a variety of visual and verbal mediums into a beautifully designed and entertaining document. One that is the creative and imaginative pinnacle of the brief. To do this we are looking for someone who can amaze us with their skills design, their love for film and knows how to express this all in a unique and exciting way.

You need to be able to take instruction and feedback well, whilst having the confidence and initiative to work independently and problem solve. You will be working on real briefs with real deadlines. You should be eager for a challenge and keen to learn new skills. You will be working under the guidance of our current team who have an extensive knowledge of the role and can train you up.

WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR

A film buff who is interested in working in advertising and film.
Someone with phenomenal written and verbal abilities.
Someone who understands the visual language of graphic design, typography, photography, fine arts etc and has a good eye.
Someone who understands both print and digital mediums.
Someone who can take briefs from our Directors and Creative Team and turn their words into visual realisation.
Image research is part of the job so you will need to be a master researching skills.

MUST HAVES
Advanced skills in Adobe CC.
InDesign and Photoshop are the primary programs used so you must be skilled at these.

OTHER SKILLS
Skills in Adobe Illustrator and Video Editing

Glug is a series of events for the design and creative community. Their showcase event is held in London but there are now 10 other events around the world.
Based around a series of talks and informal networking, Glug has become one of the most exciting, credible and well attended creative events around.
Established in 2006, it’s an eclectic mix of people from all creative walks of life; from digital design, illustration, advertising, cutting edge creative technology through to fashion and architecture.
Glug started five years ago as a handful of mates talking shop in an East London pub. Six years later it’s now a regular global event with over 10,000 signed-up members on MeetUp.
Over this time we’ve had great talks, film preview, live art, installations and exhibitions from the likes of Airside, Anthony Burrill, Baiyon, Dixon Baxi, I Love Dust, Jason Bruges Studio, Mainframe, Marc Kremers, Noma Bar and Why Not Associates. This role, based in East Sydney will allow the successful candidate to grow and develop his or her skills for a career in media. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a big imagination and a talent for creativity. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively liaise with all members of the team and a keen attention to detail is a must. Responsible for the production of content for the Australian National Geographic website and social media platforms. The successful candidate will be working under the strategic guidance of the Digital Marketing Manager and Marketing and Communications Manager, the Digital Editor will research and write articles, source photographic imagery, produce short videos, source key spokespeople and conduct interviews in person or via phone and video to promote the National Geographic Portfolio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Research, write and publish local content articles on the Australian National Geographic website.Manage, maintain and regularly updating all aspects of the National Geographic portfolio and Fox Network Group websites to ensure content is fresh and engaging. Write and edit core editorial site content including programming information, reviews, blogs, microsites and other content as directed by the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Editor.Stay informed of site metrics and usage patterns and adjusting editorial plans accordingly.Maintain quality control and editorial integrity of the sites by ensuring the content is fresh, updated and of the brands standard. Bes Animation are seeking a highly motivated full time production assistant to work on our current animated series. Production knowledge and experience essential, knowledge and experience in animation production desired but not necessary. The role will be providing support to the producers, production manager and team.

Tasks will include:

Managing calendars and schedule of senior staff
Creating and updating tracking documents
Assisting with organisation of voice records, deliveries of material, file management
General office admin and housekeeping
This is a junior role but is a great starting point for anyone wanting a foot in the door in production. Specifically seeking someone with the desire for a career in television production.

Project Monma is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to show that violence and dis-

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Scripted Development Manager to manage the development slate of adult drama and comedy programs for ABC Television. Reporting to the Head of Scripted Production, your main responsibilities will be to develop the drama and comedy content across all genres and formats: series, mini-series, telemovies, half hours and online comedies and dramas.

Key accountabilities will also include to:

  • Identify and develop new drama with an emphasis on popular, original and diverse content consistent with the aims of ABC television.
  • Assess the suitability and viability of both solicited and unsolicited program proposals submitted to ABC Drama.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding program proposals.
  • Develop, foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

About You

You have strong editorial skills and development process knowledge of drama television programs across a wide range of format in order to meet the broadcaster objectives.

If you also have the following experience, then we would love to hear from you:

  • Ability to identify and develop new drama with an emphasis on popular, original and diverse content.
  • Aptitude to manage a comprehensive slate of varied projects simultaneously.
  • Passionate about the film and television industry, ideally with a proven track record working with or within the Australian independent production sector.
  • Sound editorial judgement through the development process that ensures content satisfies editorial and production standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding, commitment and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community, including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities.

You may be an emerging writer, director or producer. As well, the ABC is looking for people who can bring a perspective of culturally diverse communities and, in this position particularly, contribute to stories, conversations and entertainment that reflect the broader Australian diversity landscape. Appropriate support and mentoring will be provided to facilitate your success in the role.
