Fox Networks Group, the home of global factual and entertainment television brands such as National Geographic and FX is looking for a dynamic Digital Editor to join their creative team. This role, based in East Sydney will allow the successful candidate to grow and develop his or her skills for a career in media. We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a big imagination and a talent for creativity. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively liaise with all members of the team and a keen attention to detail is a must. Responsible for the production of content for the Australian National Geographic website and social media platforms. The successful candidate will be working under the strategic guidance of the Digital Marketing Manager and Marketing and Communications Manager, the Digital Editor will research and write articles, source photographic imagery, produce short videos, source key spokespeople and conduct interviews in person or via phone and video to promote the National Geographic Portfolio. The successful applicant will have exceptional organisational skills, an interest in creative writing and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at once. This is an exciting opportunity to work with high-end programming and to develop dynamic promotional campaigns for internationally recognised subscription television brands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Research, write and publish local content articles on the Australian National Geographic website.Manage, maintain and regularly updating all aspects of the National Geographic portfolio and Fox Network Group websites to ensure content is fresh and engaging. Write and edit core editorial site content including programming information, reviews, blogs, microsites and other content as directed by the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Editor.Stay informed of site metrics and usage patterns and adjusting editorial plans accordingly.Maintain quality control and editorial integrity of the sites by ensuring the content is fresh, updated and of the brands standard. Website management including editing and uploading EPGS/amendments, importing NG.com articles on News CMS onsite, building adhoc pages such as video streams and briefing Producers on website videos for key NG priorities. Publish editorial articles driven by partners, sponsors and advertisers.Provide website support such as managing the global assets, competition and event pages and uploading videos and writing heading and captions.Research and source relevant spokespeople for interviews relating to stories for articles.Develop relationships with other media and relevant bodies to assist with content creation (such as museums or interested focus groups)Source photographic and video imagery to enhance articles as required.Work with the Creative Team to produce video and graphic content Have a detailed understanding of the digital strategy and marketing strategy in order to create relevant content and refocus existing content for greater relevance.Develop a working relationship with international colleagues in the same fieldCreate native advertising content as required in conjunction with advertising sales campaigns

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Scripted Development Manager to manage the development slate of adult drama and comedy programs for ABC Television. Reporting to the Head of Scripted Production, your main responsibilities will be to develop the drama and comedy content across all genres and formats: series, mini-series, telemovies, half hours and online comedies and dramas.

Key accountabilities will also include to:

  • Identify and develop new drama with an emphasis on popular, original and diverse content consistent with the aims of ABC television.
  • Assess the suitability and viability of both solicited and unsolicited program proposals submitted to ABC Drama.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding program proposals.
  • Develop, foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

About You

You have strong editorial skills and development process knowledge of drama television programs across a wide range of format in order to meet the broadcaster objectives.

If you also have the following experience, then we would love to hear from you:

  • Ability to identify and develop new drama with an emphasis on popular, original and diverse content.
  • Aptitude to manage a comprehensive slate of varied projects simultaneously.
  • Passionate about the film and television industry, ideally with a proven track record working with or within the Australian independent production sector.
  • Sound editorial judgement through the development process that ensures content satisfies editorial and production standards.
  • Demonstrated understanding, commitment and passion to source and create authentic content which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community, including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities.

You may be an emerging writer, director or producer. As well, the ABC is looking for people who can bring a perspective of culturally diverse communities and, in this position particularly, contribute to stories, conversations and entertainment that reflect the broader Australian diversity landscape. Appropriate support and mentoring will be provided to facilitate your success in the role.

The job will start off with doing day-to-day tasks around the office, but the position will expand over time to include more complex tasks.

Hospitality background is a bonus, as are barista skills (hopefully you won’t just be making coffee!)

SCREENWRITING OPPORTUNITY WITH TRUCE FILMS

specifically looking for new and exciting projects to partner with for development.

For projects that take their interest, TRUCE will perform the role as a development producer, assisting the writer in crafting their story for the marketplace. As part of this arrangement they would put in place a program to develop the writer’s screenplay over multiple drafts to a point where it is production ready.

TRUCE is a production company creating content and entertainment whilst servicing the advertising industry. Their previous short film productions include 2016 Flickerfest winner Slingshot and 2013 Tropfest winner We’ve All Been There.
