Hooray, new funding is available for NSW Filmmakers, with Screen NSW launching the new Amplifier funding platform for the development of feature length scripts. There will be funding allocated to individual film projects every two years, with support throughout the entire life of the project. This is exciting news for students who might have a project they’re wanting to pitch, however, do be aware that there is a central theme for applications in each two-year development process.

Here’s what they have to say:

“Screen NSW will call for applicants for every two years and each Amplifier will have a theme or genre focus. The two-year period will allow the creative teams to have the necessary time to fully realise their project’s full potential.

Applications are now open for the first program Amplifier: Adaptation.

We are taking a broad definition of adaptation and looking for film projects from a whole range of source material – from books to plays, from memoirs to musicals.  Australian producers have a strong track record in this area with

films such as The Dressmaker, The Sapphires, Red Dog, Last Cab to Darwin  and Holding The Man, all achieving domestic box office success and international sales and we have high hopes for the soon to be released Ali’s Wedding and Jasper Jones,” Courtney said.

Screen NSW will fund up to four teams for Amplifier: Adaptation and will accept submissions for projects at various stages of development.”

Applications are now open and will close on 2 September 2016. Go to:

Successful applicants will be notified in early November 2016.
