TV TALKS: RUNNING THE SHOW

TUESDAY 11 OCTOBER, 6PM – AFTRS, ENTERTAINMENT QUARTER _jwysiwyg_image

What does it take to go from TV series writer to TV series runner? TV Talks’ October panelists made the change from being in charge of the script of an episode, to overseeing the narrative of an entire series. The American system of writer/showrunners is new (ish) in Australia, and local productions are now seeing it a successful way of staying true to story, and to character.

This month AFRTS have a panel of successful writers who have made the transition to producing their own shows. Offspring and Devil’s Playground are all household names, but what went into bringing the characters and stories to our screens? Debra Oswald and Blake Ayshford will spill the beans and share their secrets on how it all came together, and what the experience was like for them.

GUESTS
– Blake Ayshford [Writer & Producer, Barracuda & Devil’s Playground]
– Debra Oswald [Writer & Producer, Offspring]
– Andrew Garrick [MC]
