Network Ten’s Children’s Television Production Unit has an opportunity for a Segment Producer to join Ten’s award winning science program, SCOPE.

As the Segment Producer you will have a genuine interest in creating entertaining and informative children’s television. Working on SCOPE you will be taking scientific stories and making it not only accessible but fun for kids 9-14 years old. Having a background or an interest in science would be an advantage.

Experience writing, field producing and or directing television is preferred.

You will be responsible for:

Researching and writing at least 2 scripts per week, breaking down the scientific ideas to suit our audience
Field Producing at least one day per week
Assembling off-lines edits of filmed stories for the editing process
Complete deliverables and other materials required for each story
Working effectively in a team

The successful applicant will have knowledge and understanding of the ACMA Children’s Television Standards and have the understanding of protection and privacy laws associated with a child’s performance. MULTIMEDIA CONTENT PRODUCER / VIDEOGRAPHER FOR SCREEN AUS.

Located in Sydney for a 2 year contract, with a salary of 70-80K, this looks like a good one….

A unique opportunity has arisen to join this team as a Multimedia Content Producer.

In this role you will be responsible for the end to end production of video content published by Screen Australia on a variety of platforms such as social media, YouTube/Vimeo and two in-house editorial websites (TheScreenBlog.com and AustraliaOnScreen.com).

You will also produce content for events, internal/corporate needs and media consumption. This is a busy, hands-on role that will see you working closely with an in-house Writer for content creation, as well as working with the broader team to produce and publish media material such as EPKs.

To be successful, you will need at least three years’ experience as a multimedia content producer working on a broad range of content with demonstrable success in end to end film content creation. You will need to be an expert in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premier Pro, After Effects and Photoshop, and be comfortable working on Mac and Windows platforms. The ability to self-manage and collaborate with a team is a must, as is a sense of humour and passion for the screen industry.

Paid Internship Opportunities with NBC Universal

Some fantastic work experience opportunities are up for grabs working with NBC Universal. These are 6 month paid internships that will allow you to really get your foot in the door working for a massive international media conglomerate. Please note that it doesn’t appear that there is a lot of technical production involved, so it wouldn’t be ideal for people wanting to launch a career in directing or cinematography (apart from the Matchbox Internship which may offer some scope for this).

They have an info day coming up about NBC that’s definitely worth checking out, but you need to make sure that you RSVP for this. I’ve included it as a screenshot of a PDF below for your convenience.

Specific internship dates and times cannot be confirmed. I have emailed the points of contact but haven’t heard back, so it’s in your best interest to attend the above event if you’re serious about taken onboard one of the internships.

Come and meet awesome LGBTI authors, Will Kostakis and Erin Gough, at this exciting event for young people. They’ll be reading their work and talking about the importance of LGBTI stories written for young people.

They’ll be joined by Dr Victoria Flanagan from Macquarie University, a leading researcher and lecturer in gender representations in literature and film.

Explore some of the library’s LGBTI collection of more than 1400 books, films, and zines, chosen for display on the night by young people from Twenty10.

You can also have your voice heard – share your experiences with the authors and other young people, and tell us what else you want to see in the LGBTI collection in your library.

Join their Zine Making workshop with zine maker, illustrator, YouTuber and trans activist Jesse Anderson.
