Full Time Front of House/Production Assistant at SLR Productions

Darlinghurst Hours: 8:45am to 5pm

Salary $45k package

CLOSES: 12TH AUGUST

SLR Productions is a leading children’s animation company looking for a full time Front of House/Production Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic ‘all rounder’ to join our established team in Darlinghurst.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General admin/reception duties – Welcoming & looking after clients, answering all incoming calls, incoming & outgoing mail, couriers, banking, stationery, kitchen supplies & tidy, coffee & lunch runs, general cleanliness off office & ad hoc duties as required
  • Production assistant duties – Conforming & cropping animation storyboards, preparing asset lists & filing, assisting Line Producer & Coordinator as required.
    Building maintenance – First point of contact for all floor related matters including liaising with IT support, equipment needs & ensure the smooth running of the office
  • Maintaining & coordinating company diary for all staff & meetings, including set up
  • Be digital & social media savvy – Help grow our YouTube channels, Facebook, Twitter, SLR website www.slrproductions.com
  • Industry award submissions & liaising with company publicist
  • Organising social & business functions – including team activities, networking events, & company celebrations
  • PA to the CEO when required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous admin, reception/PA experience
  • Be well presented & reliable with strong interpersonal skills
  • Be confident to liaise with people at all levels & use initiative
  • Have excellent MS Office skills – experience in MAC OS is essential
  • Photoshop skills not essential but would be great, be digital & social media savvy
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude; with the ability to work well autonomously
  • Have strong communication & organisational skills
  • Have excellent attention to detail & be good at multi-tasking
  • A positive work ethic & strong team focus.
  • Maintain a pleasant office environment.

Sydney Underground Film Festival #10 Program Reveal Party 2016

This is the 10th year of the SUFF and they’re having a massive launch party

Emcee Alexi Toliopoulos (The Blank Slate Movie Podcast) will be the host for the evening, where you can hear festival directors, Stefan and Katherine, discuss what’s in store for the 10th festival, enjoy pizza thanks to Manoosh Pizzeria, beers thanks to Coopers and be one of the first to get your hands on the printed program.

This year’s line up:

SUFF will screen over 100 films including features, documentaries and shorts plus offer a 2 day masterclass program, mini symposium, stalls, performances, live music and more at The Factory Theatre from 15-18 September 2016.

Sydney Latin American Film Festival Pre Fest Cine Lounge

In anticipation for the official film festival beginning on September 8th 2016, SLAFF is proud to present Cine Lounge: a month long series of Latin American film and culture sessions held at the funky 107 projects in Redfern starting from Friday the 29th of July. Featuring an amazing line-up of traditional and contemporary Latin influences in music, dance and film, these much loved sessions embrace SLAFF’s belief that cinema is an immersive cultural experience for all.

Their opening session on Friday the 29th of July will open with the haunting, Kafka-esque Chilean featiure I am not Lorena.

The evening will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary Latin American soundscapes by recently returned Chilean favourite, producer and musician, Pato Lara. There will also be a selection of flavoursome Chilean bites and empanadas to enjoy throughout the evening.

7th Annual Korean Film Festival – Watch &/or Volunteer

The Korean Film Festival in Sydney is back for it’s 7th year of screenings. Like the Sydney Film Festival, the screenings will be held at Events Cinemas on George Street.

The Sydney leg of the festival will run from 10th – 18th August. The schedule and film line up are yet to be released, so I suggest you like their Facebook page to stay posted. I will also make an update on MAP News as new information becomes available.

They are also currently looking for keen volunteers to assist in running the festival.

OzDocs, the Australian Documentary Forum are presenting a FREE, that’s right, free one-night course which will showcase the new recording technologies and essential practical advice from four award-winning experts.

The speakers will be helping to answer the questions; what are the pitfalls, solutions and latest tools to help you make a better film?

This includes:

• Oscar winning David White (Mad Max Fury Road), sound editor and mixer, reveals the consequences of poor sound for post production and solutions.
• Lemac’s audio specialist, Ross Boyer demonstrates new generation technologies and equipment from his toyshop.
• With clips of challenging situations, sound recordists Leo Sullivan and Philip Myers discuss practical issues for crews, advice and techniques for capturing good location sound.
